On March 8, 2023, our organization met with representatives of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. At the meeting, issues related to the release of political prisoners and civilian prisoners were discussed.

The Coordination Headquarters is currently working with russian human rights activists to find out the fate of civilians held by the russians.
According to a representative of the Ombudsman's Office, our side is trying to make the process of returning civilians start. To this end, during the ombudsmen's talks in Turkey, the russians were offered, among other things, the repatriation of the elderly, women, the wounded, the seriously ill, and those captured from 2014 until the beginning of the large-scale invasion. But so far, the Russian Federation has not demonstrated its readiness to fulfill the proposal.

“Russia imprisons and deports thousands of civilians to its territory, keeping them in captivity without any official status and without informing Ukraine about this. We know that the Coordination Headquarters uses all opportunities to release civilians within the framework of various negotiation tracks,” said Ihor Kotelianets, the Head of the Association.
