The petition to rename Zaslonova Street in Kyiv to the street of Hero of Ukraine Hennadii Afanasiev has received more than 6 000 votes and sent to the local authorities for consideration! ‍Hennadii Afanasiev devoted his entire life to the struggle for Ukrainian Crimea. He was a political prisoner of the Kremlin, having spent 767 days in captivity. He went to the front as a volunteer and became a senior soldier of the 241^st Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — defended Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions from the russian invasion. On December 18, 2022, he was killed in a battle near the village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.
