On behalf of our organization, Ihor Kotelyanets spoke at the event, emphasizing: “The role of journalists in the topic of the release of civilians is extremely important. Responsible coverage of this problem becomes part of the advocacy strategy and can really contribute to the new release of civilian hostages of the Kremlin.”

The roundtable participants discussed how to ensure a balance between the need to inform the public about the scale of Russian crimes and the protection of the dignity, safety and mental health of the released and their families, avoiding secondary traumatization.

The event brought together human rights organizations, representatives of state institutions, media management of Ukrainian publications, as well as the community of the released and their families.
