On April 18, Crimean Tatar Murat Mustafaiev was sentenced to 4 years in prison on charges of participation in “Hizb ut-Tahrir”

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found Mustafaiev guilty under Part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) and Art. 278 with the application of Part 1 of Art. 30 of the Criminal Code (preparation for a violent seizure of power). The verdict was passed by a panel of judges headed by Mykola Vasylchuk.

Mustafaiev's case was considered under a special procedure: he pleaded guilty and entered into a pre-trial agreement with the prosecutor.Mustafaiev will spend the first two years of his sentence in prison, and the rest – in a strict regime colony.

As a reminder, on August 11, 2022, at 4 a.m., massive raids in homes of Crimean Tatar Muslim activists took place in the city of Dzhankoi and Dzhankoi district of Crimea. As a result of the investigative measures, 6 people were detained, including Murat Mustafaiev, father of 4 children.
