We are publishing the digest of the Legal Aid Service of the Union of Relatives of Kremlin Political Prisoners for the period of March–May 2025. This report is more than just statistics — it represents 168 stories of people seeking protection, answers, and human support every day.

The digest compiles an analytical overview of the requests received from affected families and describes how we provide assistance.

The most common inquiries to the service include:

  • How to obtain the status of a person deprived of liberty due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation
  • How to issue a power of attorney from a person who is still in detention
  • How to prove abduction or detention when there are no official documents
  • How to restore documents or legal rights after release
  • How to obtain a certificate for accessing aid or compensation
  • How to find a lawyer for a person being unlawfully held

How our Legal Aid Service works:

  • We provide primary and secondary legal consultations
  • We prepare documents for submission to state authorities and international institutions
  • We assist with the drafting of powers of attorney, applications, and complaints
  • We accompany the process of obtaining legal status and provide document templates
  • We send official requests to the Security Service of Ukraine, Prosecutor General’s Office, Ministry for Reintegration, and other bodies
  • We explain legal options to families in each individual case

Every day, we witness how the state often leaves families to face the consequences of unlawful imprisonment alone. Our team provides the support that is so urgently needed. We work to ensure these families are not left in silence.
