Biography

He was born on August 2, 1975, in Ferhana, in eastern Uzbekystan. He completed only 8 classes at a local school because he had to work to help his mother, who was left with five children without a breadwinner.

His family moved to Crimea in 1992, and the following year, Enver was drafted to serve in the Navy in Sevastopol. After his service, he started working as a construction worker. Later, he also learned to drive and received a category B driving license.  

He is married, has three children.

The man was arrested along with 24 other civic activists on unfounded charges after large-scale raids in the homes of Crimean Tatars in the Kamianka and Strohanivka neighborhoods of Simferopol. He has been in detention since March 27, 2019.

On November 24, 2022, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, sentenced Enver Ametov to 13 years in a strict regime colony.
