Biography

Born in 1974 in Baku to a Crimean Tatar mother and an Azerbaijanian father. He also has a brother, Teimur. Studied at Suvorov Military School. Then he started practicing martial arts professionally: karate, judo and taekwondo. Since the early 90s, he won prizes at various championships.

In 1996, the Abdullaiev family moved to Crimea and settled in the village of Strohanivka near Simferopol. Uzeir received his higher education at the Law Faculty in Odessa Law Academy, Simferopol branch. But he did not work by profession, but started a coaching career. Uzeir got married in Crimea. He and his wife Fera have four children. He was a devout Muslim, he went on pilgrimage to Mecca.

At dawn on October 12, 2016, a special forces unit broke into Abdullaiev's house and searched it. Uzeir and his brother Teimur were arrested and falsely accused of links to the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is considered a terrorist organization in Russia.

On June 18, 2019, the North Caucasus District Military Court of the Russian Federation sentenced the defendants in the Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case. Uzeir Abdullaiev was sentenced to 13 years. On December 24, 2019, the Supreme Court reduced the sentences of the defendants in the Simferopol case by 6 months.
